Communion - A time to make things right

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Communion is one of the essential things we do as Christians. It can be seen as a ritual when performed without much thought, but when we realize all that Communion means it is no longer a ritual. When something becomes a ritual we do it over and over without realizing the significance, but Communion can be a time to make things right with others and with God.

Why are Christians perform Communion?

Communion demonstrates the act of love that God did for us, sending His son Jesus to die for our sins so that we might have eternal life.

Through this demonstration and reminder of God's love for us, we should take the time to show His love to others. Forgiveness of the wrongs done to us can be a great place to start.

There is hope in the act of Communion when we make things right with God and with others. We must be remined of Jesus' sacrifice for us, as we make sacrifices for others. That sacrifice could be forgiveness , our time, or own wants and desires.

God will honor that sacrifice and Jesus' own words remind us to continue in Him for He will return someday!

John 14:1-3

1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
